Initial Alignment/Class Restrictions

The GM should not let a player character begin the game with an evil alignment. Because the World of Gaianar is supposed to be a heroic adventure, a struggle of good against evil, it runs contradictory to the spirit of the game to allow players to roll up evil characters. Moreover, many of the character classes available to player characters are precluded from evil. For example, one cannot be an evil Ranger, Priest, Paladin, or Protector. Moreover, while one could be an evil Wishsinger, Thief, Shaman or Gunslinger, the experience would prove to be an empty one, as the player character would be in allegiance with the villains instead of opposing them; there would then be no conflicts and the game would be quite boring.

Now a player character can turn evil, however. All the alignment shift takes is a series of truly despicable acts. The then evil character would become quite unpopular with the rest of the adventuring party and possibly lose access to his or her character class. In any event, if a player character turns evil and remains evil for more than a level worth of experience, the GM should conspire to find a way to have the character (not the player) removed from the game.

There are some NPC professions that the GM should not allow the player characters to attain. The Scaxathrom Priesthood, the Nexus, the Crystallin Sisterhood, and the Crystallin Observer should not be played by player characters. This is due to the fact that the inherent alignment of these classes is evil. Scaxathrom Priests enslave the dead and summon extraplanar demons to do their dirty work for them, while the Crystallins murder children as a means of appeasing their deity so that their crystals are empowered. By no means should the GM allow player characters to split class into one of these classes.
